Hi! My name is Kelsey Huculak and I was born and raised in Lethbridge, AB. I am a teacher full of energy and enthusiasm, and am extremely passionate about my profession as well as dedicated and committed to it. My education has all taken place in Lethbridge. I graduated from Catholic Central High School in 2008 and immediately entered the U of L to tackle my Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees, in which I completed December of 2013.
As a teacher for ten years in the Division now, my career began at Winston Churchill High School teaching English and Social Studies for a semester, directly following my PSIII there. I then spent four amazing years at Wilson Middle School, teaching mostly Grade 8 LA/Social Studies, as well as Grade 7 LA/Social Studies, and a variety of options, the highlight of which was a Harry Potter course that I designed and pitched to board office for approval! Wilson stole my heart from day one. I bled green, and was attached to the students, staff, and community in a far-reaching way. I took over the Senior Boys volleyball program in my second year at Wilson, and head coached for the remainder of my time there. Literacy has always been a passion and direction of my professional development and interest, and I have served as an integral member of the school's Literacy team for the four years I spent at Wilson. A new middle school opening in Lethbridge was a unique career opportunity that was going to challenge me professionally, so I took the leap, and have spent the last two years at Senator Joyce Fairbairn Middle School. It broke my heart to leave Wilson, but the opportunity was once-in-a-career. I spent my time there being the Literacy lead teacher of the school, starting a Rep boys volleyball program from the ground up, helping start a school GSA, and taught a very challenging assignment of full core, which included both Grade 7 and 8 LA/Social Studies. I grew in my assessment practice and instruction immensely, and was able to have a massive role in the fine arts program. I loved my time helping create a new school community, but my heart never left the north side. It brings me no greater joy to be back at Wilson Middle School once again! It truly feels like coming home. I am ecstatic to bring my passion and dedication to this career to the students and school community once again. I have no spent close to the entirety of my career teaching at Wilson and I could not be happier about that.
I am the type of person who loves seeking out new adventures and who tries to live life to the fullest. My passions include sports (volleyball, golf, hiking, among many other activities), reading, spending time with my husband, my two children, my family, and my friends, and travelling all over the world. I have travelled to 21 countries outside of Canada and have many more on my bucket list! Some of my favourite places include Croatia, Peru, Iceland, and Vietnam!
Teaching is my passion and I cannot wait for another school year ahead!
